If you write a blog, you write it to get read. You can write informative and interesting articles all day long, but if no one reads them, what’s the point, right? In this post I will talk about one way to promote your blog and start to attracting readers.
A blog carnival is basically a blog that posts articles from many other blogs in one place. It is a great place to get your articles read, and can help you pick up long term readers and subscribers. Even better in my opinion is that these blog carnivals are great places to obtain targeted links. I will talk about both benefits in this post.
There are blog carnivals for pretty much any topic you may happen to be writing about. You can visit blogcarnival.com for a huge resource of blog carnivals. A free subscription will allow you to search the blog carnivals and post to any that may fit your topic. When submitting to a blog carnival, make sure that your topic fits the individual carnival’s theme. Don’t submit a “making money online” article to a real estate lending carnival. Also, don’t dual submit to the individual blogs. Most only want one article per issue per site. Be sure to read the individual carnival’s guidelines. Take a look at when the carnivals you are interested in publish, and when their cut off times for submissions are. Many carnivals publish every week, every other week or once a month. If you have a number of articles you want to submit, choose your best article. You want to put your best foot forward. The carnivals are giving you an opportunity to showcase your wares, write and submit great articles and chances are you will pick up some readers.
In addition to putting your posts out there for more people to read, blog carnivals are excellent places to create targeted links to your blog, which is going to help long term as you try to pick up additional traffic. When you post to a carnival, you get to put your blogs name, and a URL. So if you wanted to create a link for “making money online”, you would put that in for the blog title, and a link to your page, looking like this once published:
Making Money Online presents Wholesale Sources For EBay
These are the main two reasons I will post to a blog carnival. Many of the carnivals publish weekly. By posting my best articles to as many carnivals every week as possible, I will gain some traffic and some links. It is not going to drive insane amounts of traffic to your site, but if you use it as one of your many marketing legs and continue to post, it will contribute to your success.
