So you have a website set up, and are starting to get a good amount of visitors, how do you turn those visitors into paying customers? With a few basic suggestions on website design, it may be easier than you think.
First of all, make sure that your site is easy to use. Don’t have links to your sales pages buried in pages and pages of text. Your sales text should be to the point, and your navigation links should be easy to find. It’s best if you keep your navigation buttons on the left side of your page, that is where most people are trained to look for them. You can have all the traffic in the world, but if your customers cannot find what they are looking for, they will get frustrated and leave.
Break your site down into basic categories from the home page, and then break those categories down further from the next page. You can see a good example of that on one of my hard money sites. Notice that I have 5 link buttons that stay put on the left hand side. The categories are general enough that you can find what you are looking for easily, and following the link trail to the exact product you want is intuitive.
Make sure your pages load quickly. If your pages don’t load quickly, people will get frustrated and go elsewhere. Most people are not very patient, don’t give them a reason to get frustrated with your site. If your site looks great, but has lots of large pictures, flash, or other items that cause your pages to load slowly, you are losing business. Trim it down, make it look good, but remember, your site is meant to sell a product, not be the fanciest site out there with all the bells and whistles.
Finally, I would suggest putting Adsense on your site if you have not already. If you are getting a good amount of traffic, you may as well use all of your tools to monetize it. Adsense is a good way to do that, but be mindful of where the ads appear. You don’t want to lose a sale to a $1 click on one of your competitors. A good place to put your Adsense ads is in your informational pages, the pages that are not selling your product directly. In fact, there are many sites that make this their only source of income. Create very good, free, original content and monetize it with Adsense and other advertising means.
Hopefully this has been helpful to you, I will be going over where to place your Adsense words to make them most effective in the near future. Come visit me at www.makingmoneyresources.com/blog/ for more great articles!
