Continuing our discussion yesterday about Ebay selling and how to get top dollar, today I am going to talk about how to put together a title and description that will help your items sell better on Ebay.  If you are selling on Ebay, you should also check out my in-depth, free report on how to make money on Ebay.

In addition to what we went over yesterday, another key element is your title.  This is how people will find your item, so even if your ad is wonderful with the greatest picture of the greatest item, no one will ever see it if your title is terrible.  By the same token, if you have a great title, taking full advantage of search words, many more people will see it.

If I am looking for a Ralph Lauren polo shirt, and type in “Ralph Lauren polo”, I will not see your auction if it says “Ralph Lauren Collared Shirt, New!”  Additionally, I will not search again, omitting the “polo” just to find your item, because there will be many many listings that are pulled up.  I will never see your product.  This comes back to the point of doing your research.  Look at what has been selling on Ebay, and notice what the titles have in common when looking at the completed items.  Also notice what the titles are missing in the auctions that aren’t selling.  You don’t have to find your best title through trial and error, use other people’s trials and errors so you can make the most money more efficiently.

In addition to looking at the titles of what has sold, break it down further.  For better Ebay selling, and to get top dollar, you want to title your auction similar to the listings that have sold for the highest dollar amount.  A good sidebar to this research is that you may well turn up new products for your Ebay selling.  If you are selling green shirts, and you find that pink shirts are selling for more, you just found a new product to sell on Ebay.

You can also do this to see what to include in your description.  Again, do the research, it will help your Ebay selling greatly.  The better your description, the easier your life will be down the line.  It will cut down on returns and on questions, both of which take time, and the latter, money.  Include things like the size and color, suggested retail price, and if it is new with tags, new without tags, new in package, etc.  If you get more descriptive, you will cut down on many questions.  Also, if you get the same question over and over, you should add the answer into your description.

Look at all the completed items.  Look at the ones that sold for the most money, with the most bids.  Do they have certain buzz words in their description?  Is their description formatted a certain way?  Maybe they display a picture of the product in a different location than other listings do.  Even seemingly small changes can have a huge impact on your Ebay selling.
