If you are trying to make money online, there is a good chance that Google Adsense is part of your business plan. But how can you make it work better for you? Even a small percentage increase in click through ratio can equate to good money.
One of the factors that you can control when dealing with Google Adsense is the color and look of your ad. You don’t have unlimited freedom, but you do have a wide range of options in terms of color. There are a few schools of thought, blend it, contrast it or compliment it. You can check out Google’s page on this here. In my personal experience, I have found ads work best when they go with the overall theme of your page.
You can go to my making money home page and see how I have red ads on the top of the navigation. They don’t blend with the pink, but they do match the red in my header, and look like they belong. Those ads perform decent. If you go to my home loans site, you will see a different strategy. Here the Adsense ads are in banner form, just below my header. They blend with the page very well, and are my best performing ads. This is not just because of the blending, but a number of other factors, including position.
Position is very important. I wrote a post a couple weeks back filed here regarding ad placement. Google also has a tool to help you with the placement, identifying the hot spots on your website. In my experience, I have found I make the most money with Google Adsense, or any other banner ads for that matter, when I place them just under my header. On the making money page, you will notice a banner for a directory submission service. It is just below the introductory text, and performs very well.
Try out different colors, different positions and make sure you are tracking the results. With a bit of research and trial and error, you can make money with Google Adsense and increase your earnings.
